     Hey! It's been a long time guys, how are you? how are the kids? Good? Great. I don't know about you, but weeks have really starting flying by for me and I'm terribly sorry that I couldn't get you guys a post last week, but that's another story. Now that pleasantries are out of the way, we can get to what you came for, what we all come for: the music.



     This week's musical wonder is The Great Divide.

 

　

     Now, by looking at the fast facts (if you guys even read those, or if they can even be considered fast with that length) you can see that there are eight flipping members to The Mowgli's. Obviously, unless you were a cartoon-underprivileged child, the name of the Mowgli's derives directly from "The Jungle Book" the main character of the whole thing, Mowgli.

     Now, the band wasn't originally called this; the multitude of musicians had originally named themselves The Collective Ca, otherwise known as the Ca. They were formed on the grounds of free spirits and good ole' fashioned good. Although their sound is positively specific, their inspiration covers a vast sea of genres. This is pretty obvious throughout their albums, even in that little ditty* you just listened to. Just in case you couldn't tell though, I'll state it outright. Their musical ideals come from indie, rock, gospel, folk, love-rock, and country. So pretty much the basics that you hear on the radio.



     Their biggest song, grossing over two and a half million plays on Spotify, is San Fransisco. Which shows their origins off pretty well. It came in at number 11 on the alternative charts of this year. The Great Divide, my featured song, is their second most popular, but has only amassed little over 600,000 plays. Although the members and band aren't necessarily new, their first album was released just last year, and they released their second, Waiting For The Dawn, this year. They are currently on tour and will be playing at Odgen Theatre in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. Even though the Mowgli's are in their baby stages of music, they are capable of becoming big and are competing well in the industry. They've gotten themselves to a superb start and I can't wait for their beachy sound to begin playing all over the radio. Don't worry, by then you'll have another group to be secretly harboring as well. ~cough, cough~ You're welcome.
